Taking Action
As Mr Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization stated,
“This crisis gives us the opportunity to rethink how tourism industry should be and its contribution to people and the planet; the opportunity that, by rebuilding it, the sector become more sustainable, inclusive and resilient”.
We’re working to help all industry sectors transform to reach net zero by 2050, balanced with other sustainability goals and tailored to regional contexts.
We are working with clients to lead a wave of innovation and economic growth that safeguards our planet and advances sustainability.

What is Regenerative Tourism?
Regenerative tourism is a forward-thinking approach that goes beyond sustainability. While sustainability focuses on minimizing harm, regeneration aims to restore, renew, and revitalize ecosystems and communities.
It is a holistic approach that seeks to enhance the well-being of destinations and their inhabitants. It prioritizes deep, meaningful interactions between travelers and the local environment, culture, and community. The concept has roots in the principles of regenerative design, a term popularized by ecological designer John T. Lyle, who emphasized creating systems that are “capable of continuous self-renewal” (Lyle, 1994).
Hector de Castro, Chairman of REGENERA, states: “Regenerative tourism focus on leaving tourist destinations better than they were found, fostering a deep connection between tourists and local communities to benefit their economies and environment” (De Castro, H. 2023).
Climate change, new generations into regeneration
The global challenge of climate change is no longer a distant threat; it is a present reality. Rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and the degradation of natural resources are reshaping our landscapes and livelihoods. The tourism and hospitality industries, which depend on healthy environments and stable communities, are particularly vulnerable. Coastal resorts face rising sea levels, while mountain destinations struggle with shrinking glaciers and unpredictable weather patterns. These shifts demand immediate action, not only to mitigate harm but also to regenerate what has been lost.
Today’s younger generations are not waiting for permission to transform industries. They demand businesses take responsibility for their environmental and societal impact. These generations prioritize purpose-driven brands that align with their values. They seek out experiences that contribute to the restoration of the planet, foster human connection, and leave a positive legacy. Regenerative tourism aligns perfectly with these desires, offering an opportunity for hotels and retreats to stand out by making tangible contributions to ecological health and community well-being.
Beyond SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), we work towards regeneration.
